Carey was a fashion model. She is 5'10" tall and was very sought-after by the top American designers, such as Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren and others. Her father, a distinguished scientist who won the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists 1979 Scientist of Year award, is a renowned scientist. Carey's father was a geologist who traveled the globe as a part of his professional career. While she attended an institution called the University of Colorado, Carey began modeling on the side. The Ford model agency located in New York noticed her and offered to help.
