While this character brought her great fame, she still felt her image of Mary Camden being a nice girl would restrict her abilities as a performer. The actress was in Gear the magazine's cover image partly dressed in order to alter this image. The Jessica's fans were furious at the sexy move. The performance she gave in the sixth season brought her out of 7th Heaven. In the film Ulee's Gold, she gained immediate recognition for her outstanding acting. The film even awarded her the title of award for the Best Young Supporting Actress in the film. Summer Catch, a comedy film that she appeared in, is proof of her talent as an actor. Despite her impressive performance in the Rules of Attraction her film didn't receive much attention. People were then attracted by her character on The Texas Chainshaw Massacre. Her performance in suspense movies has proved her an experienced actor.
